Caroline Reed
Caroline has worked in the Tourism and Hospitality sector for over 20 years having qualified from Strathclyde University with BA Honours in Hotel & Hospitality Management with tourism. She began her career in the world of hospitality at the Copthorne Hotel Newcastle, working in the proactive sales office, which she went on to manage for over five years.
In 2014, Caroline joined NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative and, for more than nine years, has specialised in the proactive sales activity for the bureau. As Senior Manager for Business Events, Caroline manages all NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau activity including conference ambassador programme development, exhibition and sales activity, conference research strategy, as well as developing a pipeline of conference opportunities.
As a self-confessed business events βnerdβ, Caroline is passionate about supporting the sector and striving for excellence. She has played a key role in implementing the Green Meetings and Green Tourism accreditation across the seven local authority areas of the North East, supporting businesses to address their environmental impact and look at ways they can reduce their impact on the climate.
With a love for the region stemming from frequent visits to Newcastle as a child, Caroline is dedicated to ensuring that the business events industry in Newcastle, Gateshead and the wider region thrives and in 2023 she was awarded the miaList Individual Award for her work.
