Company & Role: Oddity Events & Marketing, Director
Lizzy is the founder and director of Oddity, a boutique events agency based in London.
After graduating with a BA Hons in Event Management from the University of Greenwich in 2010, Lizzy began her career at a medical association, delivering scientific conferences and workshops in the UK and Europe. After this, she worked as an event operations specialist at Informa Group, responsible for successfully delivering events for up to 8,000 attendees.
In 2013 Lizzy took a side step to gain agency experience. She spent almost five years at a prestigious communications consultancy, Portland Communications, where she built the commercial events offering and led a team of events and marketing specialists. While at Portland, Lizzy advised some of the most recognised global organisations on their strategic live engagement initiatives, including AkzoNobel, Apple, Diageo, Google, Facebook and McDonald's.
After progressing to Head of Events & Marketing, Lizzy left Portland in 2018 to start Oddity. Since then, Oddity has grown exponentially and received numerous industry awards, including the Conference News' award for Best Start-Up Agency and the Meetings Industry Association award for Outstanding Team of the Year, both in 2020.
In 2021 Lizzy was recognised in C&IT magazine's Agency A-List, which is an exclusive selection of the top 35 under 35 agency-side event planners in the UK. In 2022, Lizzy was named by Micebook as one of the 50 most influential female leaders in the events industry.
Now with almost 15 years of experience in event management and team leadership, Lizzy works primarily with organisations that wish to use events to influence public policy and drive social change.
Lizzy is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities, using her voice to encourage event professionals to include accessibility and inclusion in their core planning principles.
Lizzy has also contributed numerous articles, blogs and chapters in industry publications, including as a guest writer in Events Management: An Introduction, a textbook which explores the multidisciplinary nature of professional event management.
